As soon as I stepped foot in Tokyo in 2008, I knew I had caught the travelling bug. I decided I didn't just want to travel I wanted to experience the world! The different cultures, the people, the sites and most importantly (to me) the food!

Recently I have started to develop an interest in photography and hope to improve my skills while doing what I love most.

Welcome to my journey........

Not even an umbrella will keep you dry in this weather!

So here is my proof of how bad the rain is here.....

This is a picture from the only good week we have had so far...

Today.... There is suppose to be a road either side but it has been closed.

When it rains, it pours.

We have had 1 week of no rain this month... Today I finished school and was shocked to walk outside and discover the school field had turned in to a 2 inch puddle! The only day I didn't bring wellies as well. The students enjoyed it anyways.

I just looked at the weather forcast and it's raining for the rest of the week :( I was suppose to go on a day trip with my friend this Saturday but we have had to cancel that until I come back from China (if the weather clears up.

Every tells me it rains a lot in England but Birmingham gets like 900mm of rain a year while Seoul gets 1500mm!! So there! We just get drizzle all year round but normally we don't have that much rain during the summer months. I miss my non humid/non rainy summers :'( But in good news the humidity must be good for the skin haha. It's like going to a free jimjilbang (with your clothes on).

I want it to be sunny again so I can leave my apartment without sweating 5 bottles of water. In fact I would just like to leave my apartment full stop! I have now finished the complete series of Bones.

Talking of Bones... When did she get pregant?!!? How!?! Did I miss something?!?!?!

China Update

Ok, I'm only going to Beijing and Shanghai now as the train journey to Xi'an was too long for my 8 day trip (around 24 hours all together).  I am so nervous but excited!!!! >< I have booked on tours mostly in Beijing as I will be alone and if I'm on a tour I can get people to take pictures of me!!! Mwhahahaha.

I have booked on a tour of old Beijing, a Kung-fu show, a hike up the great wall (I'm really excited about this one) and a tour of Modern Beijing, For Shanghai I will prob just go around myself via subway as I heard it's the best in the world. I have booked on one tour to Suzhou and Zhouzhuang. So excited!!

I'm going on the really fast train to Shanghai so it won't take very long. My decided to book in to hotels instead of hostels as I think I've grown out of hostels now (My Korean age is 26 you know!) I can't wait for my holidays!!!!! >-<

The second week I am thinking of going to the south part of South Korea.

The largest man-made waterfall in Asia

Yesterday, I discovered the largest man-made waterfall in Asia is behind my school. 5 months working here and I didn't have a clue. Could be worse. One Korean teacher as been here 3 years and never been. Anyways, we all decided to go there as we were fed up of desk warming. Laura's dctionary- Desk warming - The need for teachers to stay at school even though there are no lessons and they have no work to do.

It was really bizzare watching it be turned on. One minute there was no waterfall then at 12noon there was water everywhere!

Before

After

The waterfall was nice, but they could of spent more time making the pool at the bottom less man made looking! It looked like an outside paddling pool.

We ended up being out for about 2 hours and grabbing some fast food for kimbap heaven on the way back (no school lunches this week! :'( ).

If you want to visit the waterfall. It is at Yongmasan station exit 2. Beware it is only turned on a few hours a day though ^^ It was turned on at 12-2pm the day we went (Wednesday).

Trinitea Cafe

Me and my friends went to the cutest cafe. It reminded me of a cafe from my town. It was old style and the tea came in teapots, The only difference is the one in my town is the staff dress up as maids (old victorian style not kinky Japanese style). If you want to go it's near the park next to Hongik University (Exit 9).

P.S. I discovered I don't like rose tea....

I saw this while we were walking around. Is it a church? Nope! It's a resturant/ wine bar!

China

I've finally gathered the courage and booked my flights to China. I don't mind travelling alone but it's the overnight night trains I am worried about. I get paranoid easily and I feel like everyone is going to rob me. I will end up sleeping with one eye open and have to wear sunglasses to cover my panda eyes throughout the trip!

Anyways, the plan is 4 days in Beijing, 2 in Xian and 3 in Shanghai. I can't wait! I have always wanted to see the Great wall!! It's on my list of things I want to do before I die (It's a long list). ^^

Charlie Brown Cafe

Pictures from the Charlie Brown cafe. I prefered the Hello Kitty Cafe to be honest but it was still good. If you want to go it's near the park that's next to hongik university ( exit 9)

Scary taxi ride

Me and Melissa had the creepiest cab driver ever. We got in the taxi and turned around and asked if we were 'Russian'. Now I read a story online about cab drivers asking girls if they are Russian and offering a free cab ride for sex (why would anyone accept this?!). My friend didn't understand him but I knew what he was asking so I made sure he knew he knew were were English and Canadian. He repeated the question so I told we were teachers.

The cab ride was awakard at this point (If I was alone I would of got out). He kept making noises to bring attention to himself and looking back at us. Now I was dressed like no hooker!!! My dress was to my feet!!!! So I don't know why this is the 3rd time I have been asked if I'm Russian! (the other times I was wearing trousers and a top to my neck).  I'm not saying all Russians in Korea are hookers but there are quite a few sex Russian clubs/bars. He also kept turning the air con up so it was freezing!!

I think if either me or Melissa were in the cab alone then you might of not seen us again (except on the news). I don't think I'm getting a cab by myself here again for a long time!

Hair and Joy

So I told you I would keep you updated about the magic straight perm. It's crap! My hair has started going frizzy again!!! Some parts are straight but the bits I needed straighting the most (the front bit that frames your face) has gone all curly wurly on me!!!! >-< So angry as it cost a fortune and it damaged my hair. If I ever get it done again it will just be my roots and I will wait at least 6months-year. I should of gone back and complained as it was never perfectly straight from day 1.

Anyways I also had my hair dyed and cut a couple of weeks ago. It's great! You get a head massage for 30 minutes then a moisture bag put on your head so you look like ET ^-^.

Kpop tv show

One of my friends won tickets to be part of the audience for a Kpop TV show. There are 3 different programs and we went to the MBC one.

We arrived about 1.30pm even though it didn't start until 3.45 and there was already a huge queue. There are two ways of getting tickets 1) winning tickets which means you can see every band or 2) queue up and sign up on the list of you favourite band. I think you can only see your band play though I am unsure. Anyways when we got there we realised we were surrounded by middle and high school students! We were some of the oldest there!

We were lucky it didn't rain but it was quite humid so I was happy to be let in the building at 3:45pm. Our seats were dead centre and we had a really good view. We managed to see rainbow, 2pm, 2ne1, f(x), boyfriend, ta-ra, 2 members of shinee (who kept waving at the middle school girls, who then screamed for half an hour) and loads more but it was too many to remember...

I had a lot of fun and would like to go again (mainly if bigbang are playing.....) ^-^ Thanks Sally for taking me!
