As soon as I stepped foot in Tokyo in 2008, I knew I had caught the travelling bug. I decided I didn't just want to travel I wanted to experience the world! The different cultures, the people, the sites and most importantly (to me) the food!

Recently I have started to develop an interest in photography and hope to improve my skills while doing what I love most.

Welcome to my journey........

Picnic in the park ^^

Today the weather was beautiful! :D Me and my friend had planned a picnic for today, so we decided to go to Seoul forest. It looked a lot better than when I went last month. All the flowers were in bloom and it looked pretty. Of course, it still wasn't a forest but a park haha.

The food was pot luck. I made some sandwiches and coconut cookies. There were sooo many cute babies around!! Too cute!! ^^

Korean wedding

Last week, I got an invite to a Korean wedding. It was my co-teacher's sisters. I had never met her but she was kind enough to send me an invite saying she had heard a lot about me and she wanted to become friends after her honeymoon. This is the invitation ------->

So cute right!!

The wedding was in the Gangnam area at a really nice wedding hall. It was so busy. There must of been 100-200 people there!! There was a small room to the right called the bridal room. Here the bride sits in a chair while people have pictures with her. There were also picture cards that you sign.

In Korean weddings, you don't give gifts but money. The basic amount is 30,000won to 100,000won, for a close friend. I actually like this idea better as I remember my mum ended up with 5 wine glass sets from her wedding haha.

The main room is pure white with flowers down the middle with normal seats and circle tables surrounded by chairs.

First the lights went out and the brides and  grooms mums walked down the aisle and bowed to each other.

Next, the groom walked down the aisle to loud cheering. Finally, the bride walked down with her father. They both read their vows to each other, then some guy gave a 5 minute speech. Finally the groom n bride bowed to each set of parents. That was my favourite bit. The brides father look proud and the grooms mum hugged the bride.

Then the groom sang to the bride. This was followed by a funny dance by 4 of the brides friends. Next was photo time. First family, then friends. You could see all this happening on two giant TVs

We all went upstairs after to eat. The food kept getting re-filled when the plates were empty. And the food was so delicious!!! Yum!!

The whole wedding including eating took only 2 hours! Shocking right? haha

Spring is finally here and what better way to start it than a baby shower? ^^

Yesterday was Sue's baby shower and we finally found out what was the sex of the baby! A boy!! We played party games and ate far too much!! >< I got to meet some new people. Most of the group was American or Korean (only one Canadian and me), so the Americans were teasing me about the English accent. It was all in good fun! Most people from different countires tease each other over here haha. Though, I knew this one Canadian girl (acted like Samantha Brick haha) who always took it so seriously... some people are too much up their own ass. At the end I did it just to piss her off mwhahaha.

P.s. The baby is due next month!! I can't wait to see him.

Today, I went to check on the cherry blossoms near my apartment with my friend. It was so hot!!! Here are pictures...

Fire!!

Today, there was a fire at the building next to mine. Luckly, no-one lives there yet as it is still being built. I think there was 10-11 fire trucks but most fire fighters didn't seem to know what to do haha. It was worrying for a while as the building is so close to mine. well, it's over now ^^. Here are the pictures!

My mum is coming to Korea!

I phoned my mum up yesterday and we were just casually talking, when my mum said she had no plans for the summer and she wanted to go on holiday. I said (half joking), why doesn't she come here. Within 5 minutes, I researched flights and within 10 minutes my mum was booked to come here in August. Crazy! So she is coming for two weeks. Sadly, I will be working for her last day and a half. BUT!!! We are booked for Jeju for 5 days in a five star hotel. I thought I would treat myself as this is a holiday and I won't be going on another one until October to HK *coughcough* :P. We are also going to Busan and Gyeongju. I am so excited!!

I have booked (or am going to book) so many holidays and trips at the moment ^^. I think they will make the year more exciting than last, when I didn't really plan anything except China. This month I am going to a Korean wedding, then I am going on a wine train (still to be booked). Then next month I am booked to go on a trip with Sarah. It's to the expo down south then the green tea fields, Hyang Il am temple and Nagan folk village. That was quite cheap. Only 60pounds for 3 days, two nights inc the green tea experience. So excited!! I am using my re-newal bonus to do all this ^^ I also have Hong Kong to look forward to with Paul! Soooooo excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everythings coming together right now! I think last week I was just so stressed with being signed up for a middle school and my school after school programs. This year is all about saving and travelling (I will do both! I just have to budget!!). I don't know if they will keep English teachers next year, so I am planning to see most of Korea. I plan to go to the DMZ (I didn't want to go at first, but I think while I am here I should see it) and do some hiking outside Seoul.

Happy! Happy! Happy!
